A little about us...

We are Rob Hay and Sally Titasey.

These are our sweet children, Ella and Ilan.

We operate The Valley Kitchen together on snʕickstx tmxʷúlaʔxʷ (unceded Sinixt territory) in Winlaw, BC.

We love food! And, in these shifting times, we see the importance of food resiliency and strong community.

When we began building The Valley Kitchen in 2016, our goal was to create a dynamic hub where:

  • local businesses could thrive and grow

  • groups could gather to collaborate and exchange knowledge/skills

  • and, where community could gather to share food and nice times

The Valley Kitchen opened to the public in May 2017 and, since then, we have been deeply humbled by the support we've received from this community to manifest these goals. The rental kitchen is alive with entrepreneurs and food enthusiasts and our Sunday café is a weekly opportunity for community to safely gather and enjoy the food made in-house.

Collectively, we (Rob and Sally) have over 20 years experience in the food industry. We've built, renovated and managed shared commercial kitchens, worked in restaurant service and management, run a festival food truck operation and catered all styles of events. We are excited to share this knowledge with other small businesses faced with the challenges of designing, renovating and building commercial kitchens.

We would like to acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of Sinixt Peoples. We make this acknowledgment to show our respect for the təmxʷulaʔxʷ (homeland), and Sinixt Nation. We feel privileged and grateful to be here, and we invite those reading this to explore their own relationship to place.
